How the conversion works
Cubic yards = bags × bag volume in ft³ ÷ 27
Use the volume printed on each bag. A bag’s mass does not tell you its volume without a density.
Reference table
| Cubic yards | Cubic feet |
|---|---|
| 1 | 27 |
| 2 | 54 |
| 3 | 81 |
| 5 | 135 |
| 10 | 270 |
Example: 16 bags at 2 ft³ contain 1.185185 yd³. An example density of 100 lb/ft³ makes 50 ft³ weigh 2.5 US short tons. These inputs are not recommendations.
